Sarah has built supportive, positive and purposeful relationships with students. Students are actively engaged and connected; Sarah provides constant positive reinforcement to her students. Her lessons are engaging with thorough explanations to ensure student understanding; utilizing materials from the students' homes to carry out classroom activities. Sarah provides exemplars to illustrate lesson objectives and establishes clear "I can" statements as well as presenting an assessment rubric. 

Sarah consistently creates a virtual learning environment that keeps her students connected and engaged. As a first-year teacher she has successfully built a virtual classroom with no previous experience. Sarah has built relationships in this environment and a sense of community, with students caring for each other even when there is not a physical presence. She has had to be a committed learner, highly flexible and makes a difference working with her colleagues. Sarah works well with everyone in the way she can build relationships with parents, families, colleagues and students. She establishes constant communication with her families who feel a connection with her and want to get to know her better. Her relationship with parents is reflected in her comfort with them observing online live lessons. Given the unique context of this school year she is a first-year teacher doing a masterful job.
