This is a message from Medicine Hat Public School Division, Prairie Rose School Division and the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education.
Medicine Hat’s three school jurisdictions are communicating to our middle and high school communities about our shared concern regarding drug use (Fentanyl) and overdoses in Medicine Hat and area. Provincially and locally, the number of overdose cases is on the rise, and in some instances young people have experienced overdose after taking drugs given to them by peers. We encourage families to discuss the dangers of taking drugs, including prescription drugs, regardless how legitimate they may appear.
Both the Province of Alberta and Alberta Health Services have created resources for parents who have questions around identifying the symptoms of drug use.
